How to Use the Document to Markdown Converter
Basic Usage
- Keep Auto-detect (or pick a format): DOCX, DOC, RTF, ODT, PPTX, XLSX, CSV, HTML, TXT, JSON, XML, YAML, PDF

Conversion Options
- Preserve Headings: Maintain the heading structure from the document
- Preserve Links: Convert document hyperlinks to Markdown link format
- Heading Style: Choose between ATX (#) or Setext (===) heading formats
- Add Page Breaks: (PDF, PPTX, Word) Insert Markdown separators between pages
Features & Limitations
Word (.docx) Documents
- Supported: Headings, paragraphs, lists, links, basic tables, and emphasis (bold/italic)
- Limited Support: Complex tables, embedded images, and advanced formatting
- File Size: Maximum 5MB for optimal conversion speed
Other formats
- .doc / .rtf / .odt: Text, paragraphs, links and simple tables (headings and bold/italic may be lost in .doc and .rtf)
- .pptx / .xlsx / .csv: One section per slide or sheet; spreadsheets become Markdown tables
- .html / .txt / .json / .xml / .yaml: Converted to Markdown or fenced code blocks
- PDF: Text extraction, basic structure, page breaks. Max 10MB for most formats
